Three ways to develop a sense of belonging in the workplace
Within any organization, the need to feel like part of a team and to develop a sense of belonging is vital to ensuring a comfortable working environment, and to a certain extent, increasing productivity.
Whether you’re a new starter, or simply joining a new team within a company that you’ve worked in for years, trying to create a feeling of camaraderie with colleagues can be daunting. That being said, it’s far from an impossible task, and there are a number of different actions that can be taken to help establish a genuine sense of belonging!
What The Best Leaders Understand That Google Doesn’t
Anyone who has ever used Google to find the answer to something knows that a few letters can be the difference between satisfaction and something else. And herein lies an important point about Google AND your brain: When you ask Google a question, it doesn’t ask why you are asking, it just churns up answers. Similarly, when you ask the brain a question, it sets off a set of physiological and psychological responses that are either going to lift you up or send you into an unexpected spiral, depending on what you ask.
In a corporate dynamic, leaders must understand that the way they frame challenges will directly impact the way their teams respond under stress and, more importantly, understand how to use their brains to out-Google Google! Check this one out to learn more about the right way to do so.
Forget about artificial intelligence, extended intelligence is the future
The notion of singularity – which includes the idea that AI will supersede humans with its exponential growth, making everything we humans have done and will do insignificant – is a religion many people believe in nowadays. How many possibilities are there that this particular and scary outcome will become true? And how can we adapt our behaviors in order not to lose control of AI?
Instead of thinking about machine intelligence in terms of humans vs machines, we should consider the system that integrates humans and machines – not artificial intelligence but extended intelligence. Instead of trying to control or design or even understand systems, it is more important to design systems that participate as responsible, aware and robust elements of even more complex systems.
We must question and adapt our own purpose and sensibilities as observers and designers within systems for a much more humble approach: humility over control!
Can Online Tools Help Employees Build Resilience?
You have had a tough day at work. Your presentation did not go well, a colleague was promoted to a position you had hoped to fill, and some of your coworkers planned to go out after work and you were not invited. Anyone would feel lousy at the end of this day. But what helps you learn from these experiences and get back to business tomorrow is resilience!
Research indicates that employers lose around 32 days annually due to reduced productivity for every employee, which may cost employers as much as $44 billion annually: this is where resilience training comes in. Unfortunately, right now, only one in ten employers offer onsite stress management programs, like resilience training programs.
Many companies underestimate the positive impact online tools can have to help employees build resilience and this article checks on how important is for any organization to implement a system in which the whole workforce can thrive.
